A producer is trying seriously to bring Vijay and Vikram to do a film together

Though Vijay and Ajith are at opposite poles today, they had acted in films together. Now, of course, it is next to impossible to do that. But Vijay and Vikram have been friends from the beginning.

Producer Kalathi Agoram is trying to produce a film with these two actors. He is the producer of
'Thiruttupayale' and 'Santosh Subramaniam'.

He has expressed his desire to both Vikram and Vijay some time ago. And both have agreed for that, provided a suitable story could be found. Now, producer Agoram has made ready five stories suitable for both of them. Both Vikram and Vijay have agreed to listen to the stories, it is learnt.

If it is certain that both of them would do the film, producer Agoram has decided to produce the film in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi too.

This film is produced under the banner Red Giant Movies and the producer is Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin, music by Vidyasagar is back with a bang and a mix of Indian genres and the album is worth listening to, as it will dominant for a period.

Happy New Year
A effective introductory song with a diverge combination with a Tamil koothu and a rap song , the song rendered very well by Sunitha Sargam and the Tamil rap by Yogi B and the English rap by Dr. Parn, the song raves about the hero and will stand out and the chartbusters. Music is very simple. The lyrics for the song is penned by Na. Muthukumar.

Dandaana Darna
This song sounds more like a situational song that has a mass appeal, and a typical illai thalapathy Vijay dance number that will set the screen ablaze, the song is very well sung by Sangeetha Althipoor with distress and happiness in his voice, simple practical lyrics by kabilan.

Thaen Thaen Thaen
A definite romantic number with the magic pair Vijay and Trisha, sung by the best romantic duo Udithnarayanan and Shreya Gosal, the BGM is monotonous with the elevation with the voice that is very appealing. The lyrics by yuga barathi is sensitive by yugabarathy.

Palaanadhu
A fast dance number with the Vidhyasagar has rendered his voice along with s. Rajalakshmi whose voice is dense and strong and the music is completely westernized. Giving in a Punjabi appeal in the middle is a very amusing, the music is different and that what stands out in this album. Lyrics by Pa Vijay.

The theme music that is threatening with the title of the film, music is well disseminated, sung by Praveenmani, Dr. Parn, Ranina, Suvi, brief but crisp lyrics by Na. Muthukumar.

Vijay’s Kuruvi which was initially slated for a May 2nd release is getting postponed by a couple of days to 3rd May which is a Saturday and this is very unusual in filmi world. Stars Cheer Chennai Super Kings

IndiaGlitz
[Tuesday, April 29, 2008]

Say cricket, and there are so many people to tell you how you could have driven a ball to the boundary for a four or smashed a six. The men folk get into the mood of the game as though they are facing the ball and the women are right behind their men to cheer the winning team.

Towards the end of last week Chennai witnessed the Kinght Riders of Kolkata and the Super Kings of Chennai fighting a battle at the Chepauk grounds in Chennai. The match ended with the Chennai Super Kings wining the day's game and the crowd going crazy for their stars.

It was the first loss for Kolkata and Chennai has retained its success saga in the IPL games so far. To cheer the cricketing stars were the stars of Kollywood in full force present in the stadium. The most prominent was 'Ilayathalapathy' Vijay who watched the match with his son Sanjay.

Vijay who is very composed and silent during most of his public appearances was seen in full flow during the match. With the victory of Super Kings the actor was captured on camera dancing with his son perched on his shoulders. The other film personalities who were present to cheer their home team were Sonia Agarwal and as well as Sandhya among others.

Vijay shines in his new role

By Behindwoods News Bureau.
April 28, 2008

Ilaya Thalapathi really seems to be enjoying his new role as the brand ambassador of the Chennai Superkings. The team has been having a great run and there is no better reason to celebrate a victory. After the Superkings' victory over the Knight Riders on Saturday there was a special `click' moment that appeared in the next day's newspapers.
Vijay

Vijay standing along with the team that was (as mentioned in the newspaper) `savoring the victory'. Now, for one who really doesn't know Vijay (not you or me, maybe someone in North India or the North East) might have easily though that this guy was a part of the team, a playing member. Dressed in the yellow jersey and standing between Jacob Oram, Dhoni and Mathew Hayden, Vijay looked every inch a Chennai Superking.

He is certainly playing his role of the team's brand ambassador to perfection and if the good days continue the Chennai Superkings will be the Kings of 20-20. All the best.

Vijay's new film 'Singam'

Cinesouth.com

The film Vijay will be acting after 'Kuruvi' is titled as 'Singam'.

Udhayanidhi Stalin's 'Kurivi' was originally supposed to be produced by London Karunas’ Ayangaran International. At the request of Udhayanidhi to do a film for him, Vijay gave the call sheet to him that was given to London Karunas.

Now that 'Kuruvi' is complete and waiting for release, Vijay has given the call sheet to London Karunas. The film that will be directed by Prabhudeva is titled as 'Singam'.

As Nayantara lost out to Trisha in 'Pokkiri' and 'Kuruvi', Vijay has given her a chance to be his pair in this film.

The story of 'Singam' follows the commercial formula of Vijay. After this film, Vijay will do a film for M Balasubramaniam on behalf of A.V.M Studio and also a film for Udhayanidhi.

It may be recalled that a film with Vijay titled as 'Puli' to be directed by S.J Suryah was given up.

Vijay will be the sole brand ambassador for CSK

By Moviebuzz | Sunday, 27 April , 2008, 15:36

Gurunath Meiyappan of IPL's Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is a very happy man. His team is leading the tables and has clearly emerged as the favourite to grab the DLF IPL –Twenty20, inaugural 2008 cup. The way CSK demolished the highly hyped Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkatta Knight Riders (KKR), with three overs remaining was fantastic.

Full marks to Gurunath, and the rest of the people at India Cements CSK's, franchise to make it the hottest team in the tournament. Added to that, they could whip up terrific fan frenzy for the IPL in Chennai. Hats off, that in the heat of summer CSK could attract a full house (capacity- 42,000) crowd for the clash with the Kolkotta team on Saturday evening.

So far, CSK has clicked in a big way, and all credit should be given to India Cements. The only controversy was the unceremonious termination of Nayanthara as one of the brand ambassadors of CSK. Nayanthara had said that CSK had behaved in an "unprofessional manner". She also said that "it is unethical for a corporate house to make such a statement without having the basic courtesy to inform me about the decision."

After CSK's sensational win over KKR on Saturday night, Gurunath Meiyappan of CSK sitting on the Pavilion Terrace of M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai opened up and talked exclusively to Sify.com on the raging Nayanthara controversy.

The buzz in the local press is that you have signed Trisha to replace Nayanthara as CSK brand ambassador. Please comment
No way. It's pure rubbish. Let me make it clear that Mr. Vijay will be the sole brand ambassador for CSK . We are very ,very happy with him

So Vijay looks the perfect brand fit for Chennai Super Kings
You are absolutely right. Vijay is the complete professional, once he is committed to a project. The man has done more for CSK than he committed. He moved around as a part of the team, cancelled his shoot and came to the stadium to watch our players at the nets. Dhoni and Vijay get along very well. The star has promised to hold a sneak preview of his "Kuruvi" for Dhoni on May 1, a day before our match against Delhi Daredevils in Chennai. Vijay was there with his family for both the matches in Chennai, and may also come to Bangalore to cheer for us on Monday (April 28) when we play Royal Challengers.

CSK seems to be rocking?
Yes. In every aspect of acquiring the team, its performance, on field entertainment and the kind of ratings we managed to pull off. We have proved that CSK is a professionally run team. We are rocking!

Nope, it isn’t the box office performance we intend here. While the ticket counters are enjoying a forced vacation of sorts, IPL matches are dictating terms with skyrocketing TRP rates on television. And brand ambassadors Vijay and Shahrukh Khan couldn’t ask for more with the teams they endorse reaping success after success.

While Vijay endorses the Chennai Super Kings, Shahrukh owns and endorses the Knight Riders (Kolkatta) team. Of the matches held so far, Shahrukh’s Knight Riders won the matches played against Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. Chennai Super Kings brought home the matches against Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers.

Malavika proceeds on maternity leave

Malavika has taken a break from acting due to her pregnancy. Last Wednesday, she completed an item song with Vijay for Kuruvi. The song, 'Dandaana Darna', is a fast-paced song in which Malavika and Vijay dance to the tunes of Vidyasagar.

Malavika has decided to return to her home in Bangalore and take it easy till her baby is delivered. 'Dandaana Darna' has already started moving up the charts and is expected to be a huge hit. Already the song sung by Sangeet Althipur is on top of the charts, and if the film is a hit, it will become a major attraction on the dance floors. Hats off to Malu (as Vivek calls her), for completing the song which had difficult steps and she had to match Ilayathalapathy’s fast movements.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is all excited as he dons a new role as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) brand ambassador.
/photo.cms?msid=2972725

Speaking exclusively to Chennai Times on the sets of his forthcoming Kuruvi, at Prasad Studios, where he is doing some patchwork for the film, the actor says: “The two big Cs in my life from the time I can remember is cinema and cricket and I grew up watching them in theatres and on television.

I was passionate about the game, especially ODIs, so I’m more than happy to endorse Twenty20 and CSK.” No surprises when Vijay bats for MS Dhoni, captain, Chennai Super Kings. “My son loves watching cricket on television, he is a fan of MS Dhoni and is waiting to meet him and have himself photographed with him.” Vijay not just loves cricket but has played college level cricket as well!

Prod him further on Dhoni, and the superstar says he is fascinated by Dhoni’s captaincy, which he feels got India the Cup in the recent Australian tour. “Dhoni is an inspirational leader and has been fantastic as captain. I will be there at MA Chidambaram Stadium to cheer for him and the team,” he adds.

The actor’s presence at the stadium will guarantee a full house. He’s known to pull in the punters. The first time Vijay met Dhoni was at the official launch of CSK — a glitzy affair at the Chennai Trade Centre auditorium. “We will win it for Chennai was CSK captain Dhoni’s first comment to me when we met there. He told me that he has heard of me and said that he loves the way I dance in my films. He was very frank and came across as a down-to- earth sort of guy.”

A little bird informs us that Team Super Kings is expected to catch a sneak preview of Vijay’s upcoming release Kuruvi. Never mind Dhoni’s self-confessed love for Bollywood. We’d love to see the Ranchi trailblazer match steps with the superhero. In fact, rumour has it that the cricketer even asked the actor how he managed to do the difficult steps in the ATM title song!

Team CSK managers have taken the popular line — Unnal Mudiyum Thozha —from the song and made it their war cry! Vijay is gung-ho about the current form of CSK. “Obviously our strength is our awesome batting line-up. The way they performed against Kings XI Punjab, and thrashed Lee, Sreesanth and Pathan all round the turf was amazing. The finest left handers in the world — Hayden, Hussey and Fleming — bat for us and I think Murali is the best spinner at the moment. Dhoni’s shrewd captaincy along with youngsters from Tamil Nadu can get us the Cup,” says an excited Vijay.

The actor is all padded up to sit in the special enclosure, cheering every ball that the home team hits. “The T20 is here to stay, and it is as racy, entertaining and enjoyable as the movies I do,” he chuckles.

When quizzed on whether IPL could possibly gnaw at the summer box-office collections, Vijay quips, “T20 will not affect box-office collections. A well-made commercial film will rake in the moolah anyway. Do you think I’d have supported IPL had it threatened cinema? Kuruvi is slated for release on May 1, bang in the middle of the IPL season. I’m confident that this roller-coaster entertainer is well made and will draw in the crowds.”

ROOTING FOR CHENNAI: Chennai Super Kings brand ambassador actor Vijay at a news conference in the M.A.Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. The host will play Mumbai Indians in its first IPL match at home on Wednesday.

Chennai: A city that has savoured cricket’s uniqueness in an erstwhile era will witness the game’s condensed future on Wednesday.

The Indian Premier League Twenty20 series has set foot in many Indian cities, but its biggest challenge lies in convincing cricket’s keenest observers of its purpose. The big question now: Will entertainment for its own sake appeal to Chennai’s cricket lovers?

The agenda for Wednesday is clear. Much before loyalties are sorted out for Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians, the paying public will be forewarned of the IPL’s essence, with performances by Sivamani and Hariharan, and the presence of brand ambassadors Vijay and Nayanthara.

The idea of entertainment can ill afford to lose itself in the cricket. Entertainment in its different forms has been well-received in the city, but its impact when combined with sport will be put to test through the course of the seven matches here. Independent of the glitz and the glamour, the cricket has to draw crowds.

Former cricketer V.B. Chandrasekhar, Director, Cricketing Activities, of Chennai Super Kings, was quite confident of Chennai’s appetite for entertaining cricket.

He said: “They will definitely like what they’re going to be seeing. The cable system here has prevented many people from watching the matches on TV, but we’re expecting them at the Ground. The people of Chennai have always enjoyed entertaining cricket.

I remember the time when Krish Srikkanth and I used to bat here. People would throng to watch him and disappear once he got out. There’s always an audience here for entertaining cricket.”

Popular actor Vijay, who addressed a press conference here on Tuesday, was equally excited. “I am looking forward to the matches, since I belong to a family of cricket lovers. I’m sure my fans will come to watch,” said the brand ambassador.

M.S. Dhoni, substituting for the lack of a home-grown icon player, will need all his resources as captain to cultivate loyalty.

No cricketer from the city has matched Srikkanth’s international stature since his retirement.

For Chennai to support and identify itself with a hybrid team that is meant to be its but with no local star, nothing short of cricketing excellence will do.

Actor Vijay, Dhoni form mutual admiration society

MUTUAL ADMIRATION: Dhoni and Vijay are full of praise for each other.

MUTUAL ADMIRATION: Dhoni and Vijay are full of praise for each other.

Chennai: The Chennai Superkings take on Mumbai Indians on Wednesday and among those who'll be watching it keenly is IPL Chennai's brand ambassador, actor Vijay.

It also looks as though the Superkings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Vijay have found a fan in each other.

"Definitely all my fans will come – they are all cricket lovers too so they'll definitely come and cheer the team. Besides my support, the team will also have my fans' support," Vijay enthused.

For his part, Dhoni is full of praise for his team’s brand ambassador.

"He's a great guy,” said Dhoni. “I've met him just once during the launch function. It'll be interesting to know him better and of course the film industry here too – that'll be a relaxing time.”

Vijay returns the compliment twofold.

"Dhoni's a superstar, I don't know about myself," he quipped.

"Before I met him, I was feeling like, ‘I was gonna meet a big cricket captain, but he was so down-to-earth. He said, ‘Hey I know you, I've seen you on TV’, and he made me feel so very comfortable."

Watch the video

As for films, looks like they will have to wait because there's something else on top of Vijay's mind.

"I saw the Mohali match. We've taken 250 runs which no other team's got so far – ours is a strong team that can win under any circumstances – my mind's totally in tomorrow's match," he said.

With the actor there to cheer his team, Wednesday's match should be a double delight for all Vijay fans.

When stars descend at Chepauk

[Wednesday, April 23, 2008]

The M A Chidambaram Stadium had a surprise visitor on Tuesday. 'Ilaya Thalapathy' Vijay, the brand ambassador for Chennai Super Kings Team, made it to the stadium to cheer the local team.

After exchanging plesantries with Dhoni, Vijay addressed the media. Speaking on the occasion, he said, 'Dhoni is a super human being. I admire his cricketing skills. I was moved when he said that he had seen my films and songs on television.'

Vijay assured that he would be on the stadium on 23, 26 April and 2 May to watch the proceedings live and express his support for Chennai Super Kings. 'My participation in the rest of the matches is based on my movie commitments'. Nayantara, the other star ambassador is expected to join Vijay at M A Chidambaram Stadium on 23 April.

Meanwhile, the IPL matches in Chennai will witness special music concerts by renowned singers and musicians besides cheer girls dancing all the way. A host of VIPs including Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and who's who of Tamil film industry are expected to watch the match on Wednesday.

Shankar Mahadevan, Anuradha Sreeram, Karthik among others are expected to perform before the IPL matches at Chepauk.

Dhoni, Vijay – mutual admiration

Chennai, April 22: The mutual admiration between Mahendra Singh Dhoni and cine star Vijay could not have been more apparent and seemingly genuine as the two spoke of one another in glowing terms, each calling the other the “super star”.

Dhoni, captain of the Chennai Super Kings and Vijay, its Star Ambassador, met the Media separately, here today and said they admired each other’s status.

Dhoni said of Vijay: “He is a real crowd-puller and a super star. It was a privilege meeting him.”

On his part, Vijay confessed to being overawed by Dhoni’s personality and in every sense he was the real super star.

“What can I say about Dhoni? When we first met during the launch last month, I was pleasantly surprised when he told me that he liked the way I danced and also had seen my song sequences on the television. I am a great admirer of Dhoni and him being the captain of our country’s team, the privilege was all mine to have met him,” Vijay gushed.

When asked about his interest in cricket, Vijay said: “I have always been a huge fan of cricket. Of course, like any other kid, I also played cricket. All my family members are cricket fans. So, it’s quite natural for me to be associated with the sport even if as a Star Ambassador. But for me, there is only one Super Star here, and that is Dhoni.”

Vijay said he would try to be present for all of Super Kings’ home matches at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. “I will have to rework my shooting schedule, but I will definitely try to attend all our matches here and cheer for my team,” he reiterated.

In a lighter vein, Vijay, replying to a query, said he would definitely take up a project with cricket as a theme. On persistent questioning whether he would have Dhoni in the film, Vijay simply laughed.

Chennai cheers for Gilli and Hussey

Cricinfo staff
April 23, 2008

Loud cheers for Michael Hussey in Chennai, but who is this new Gilli?

Gilli, but not Adam: As you walk down from the Madras Cricket Club gate to the media entrance, there are dozens of posters on lamp posts and walls. All of them feature a young man in various smiling poses.
This is Vijay, matinee idol for a new Tamil generation. His biggest hit was called Gilli and we're reliably informed that it has nothing to do with the greatest wicketkeeper-batsman of all time.

Superstar vs Superstar

Amol Karhadkar, KR Guruprasad , Hindustan Times
April 23, 2008

Chennai team star ambassador Vijay is no stranger to press conferences. But for journalists from outside Tamil Nadu, it was surprising to see the humility with which the Tamil actor spoke to the media. He even stood up to answer the questions but was told by the journalists to sit down.

He did not, however, answer when asked if he would ever want Dhoni to play any of the roles in his movie. But he said that he has met Dhoni once and the cricketer apparently told him that he had seen the actor a couple of times on TV.

Dhoni on his part said that Vijay was humble and hoped to catch up with other Tamil actors and stars later on during the IPL. In the end Vijay was asked if he was big enough to pull in the crowd he said, “Well, I don’t know, but we have Dhoni who is also a superstar.”

For those alien to the Tamil film world, Vijay is arguably the biggest star here after Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan.

Dhoni appreciates me - Vijay turns emotional

Cinesouth.com Vijay
- 23.04.2008

It is a healthy practice for cricket stars to enjoy films and film stars to woo cricket players. In that respect, Indian captain Dhoni and actor Vijay exchanged appreciations for each other.

Vijay is a brand ambassador for the Chennai Superkings team in the 20-20 tournament. Tonight Chennai Superkings will play a match at the Chepauk grounds. Meeting the media on this occasion, Vijay spoke about Dhoni's appreciation. “His game has taken gigantic proportions in global cricket. I was curiously excited when I had the opportunity to meet him. Those are unforgettable moments.
Dhoni

When he met me, he listed my films that he enjoyed. He also sang from memory the lyrics of the dance number I had done. Being a player with a star status, Dhoni was simple and affectionate without putting on airs. I am very happy for the healthy friendship between us," said Vijay in total appreciation of Dhoni.

Dhoni was also present at this meet.

Ilayathalapathy keeps his promise

By Moviebuzz | Tuesday, 22 April , 2008, 09:45

When Nayanthara was unceremoniously dropped from Kuruvi, after being signed for the film to be replaced by Trisha, she felt peeved. At that time Vijay had assured her that she will play heroine in his next film.

Vijay a man of few words kept his promise and has now cast her as his heroine in his next film to be directed by Prabhu Deva. The film rumoured to be titled Singam (though both Vijay and Prabhu Deva denies it) is all set to roll in mid June.

Nayanthara is relieved that atlast that she is going to do a film with Ilayathalapathy, with whom she had appeared in special song sequence Kodambakkam Area… in Sivakasi earlier.

The untitled film is being made like a racy entertainer with all essential ingredients one would associate with a Vijay film. The film is being produced by Ayngaran International. Vijay-Nayan combo has already become hot after they became the brand ambassadors for IPL Chennai Super Kings.

Kollywood Today
April 21st, 2008

What’s cooking so hot in Kollywood? If you ever had this question in your minds, then the title has an answer for it. With none of the releases making it big in both songs as well in box-office, here comes the other series of flicks that are yet to hit the screens by the next month.

Dhaam Dhoom Vs Kuruvi now in stores

Audios for these films have already hit the stores and a great competition is happening between these albums in the town now. Though, actors have their levels at different levels, when it comes to audio, music directors are considered as the heroes of the show.

Well, it’s Vidhyasagar and Harris Jayaraj who the heroes are now making their best scores among the listeners. Both the albums are good and reveals of their respective touches. But, the audio that has been rocking not just in IT companies and BPOS, but among the tea shops and auto rickshaws is none other than Kuruvi.

The feet tapping Kuthu songs will have a clear picture of how it would look when Ilayathalapthy shakes his legs on the screen.

Is it exciting? Sure, for I am too. All that we have to do now is keep ourselves enjoying with the songs and get prepared to whistle through the songs in theatres once it releases.

Kuruvi Audio Review - Behindwoods

Music review By Malathy Sunderam

This movie has kindled a lot of interest, primarily because this is Dharani's follow-up directorial venture with Vijay and Trisha after the smart, action packed super hit Ghilli. This `Action-Adventure' also promises to be a scorcher, judging by the theme song and the unusually fast paced, rhythm oriented songs composed by the usually melody-conscious Vidyasagar!
Kuruvii

(The name 'kuruvi' is a slang term used generally for persons who run contraband goods from country to country. Here,Vijay, the( unsuspecting ) hero ,who works for a courier company, gets trapped into performing the role of a kuruvi as a result of which he gets caught, and his jailed. How he extricates himself from all the charges thrown against him forms the major part of the story).

Six songs have been tuned by Vidyasagar.

Happy New Year
Lyrics: N.Muthukumar, Vocals: Sunidhi Chauhan,Yogi B, Dr.Burn

Seems to be a celebration of New Year. A peppy fusion of rap and regular foot-tapping music. Sunidhi leaves you breathless with her vocal power. Yogi.B's stylish rapping is fun to listen to! Apart from the Tamil phrases, we hear some others too which we don't quite comprehend. Is it Malay? No clue! The refrain 'Taanaane Tannanaane' makes you want to shake your hips too!

Dandaana Darna
Lyrics: Kabilan, Vocals: Sangith Altipur.

The singer has a vibrant voice. The song is very fast paced. You can almost visualize Vijay doing all the complicated steps this song demands! The lyrics reflect the very sentiments that Vijay easily identifies himself with---bonding with the masses! The slightly unsophisticated down-to-earth person that he wants to project himself as comes through here. The message' I'm good as long as you don't mess with me' (which probably is central to this story) is brought out in this song.

Thaen thaen thaen
Lyrics: Yugabarathi, Vocals: Udit Narayan, Shreya Ghosal.

A melodious duet evidently picturised with Vijay and Trisha. Possibly filmed in New Zealand. The soft romantic sentiments running through the song have been sensitively tuned to dreamy beats. Some respite for the ears now! Udit sings with his usual joie-de-vivre (in his accented Tamil, of course). Shreya deserves a very big pat for her pukka pronunciation. She is a joy to listen to. The instrumental interludes tease and cajole and some vague notes akin to Scottish pipes are very pleasing.

Palaanadhu, Palaanadhu
Lyrics: P.Vijay, Vocals: Vidyasagar, S.Rajalakshmi

A song that cannot be definitely categorized! Some strains of Sufi music, some Arabic notes, some Bhangra stuff have all been blended in. The female voice packs quite a punch. Insipid verses from P. Vijay- which is surprising. The instruments drown out the words.

Theme Music
Lyrics: N.Muthukumar, Vocals: Pravin Mani, Dr.Burn, Ranina, Suvi

Probably forms the backdrop to the 'escapades and chases' that are a part of this movie. Features varied rhythms and some complex music. Use of electric guitar adds to the sense of speed and thrill.

Mozha mozhannu
Lyrics: P.Vijay, Vocals: K.K. , Anuradha Sriram

Funny words that grab your attention at the start. What is 'Mozha, mozha' supposed to convey? A slow start that breaks out into a speedy rendition. Anuradha brings her own brand of 'rocking sexiness' to the song. Words that suggest a lot of swirling movement are strewn throughout the lyric. Gay abandon is what the song conveys. But quite noisy, too. 'Smoke on the Water' by Deep Purple seems to cross your mind!

Verdict:

Vidyasagar seems to have reinvented himself as a fairly noisy composer here! The metallic twang that accompanies the songs is not too pleasant. Maybe the plot calls for such treatment, but you come away wondering whether Vidyasagar heartily relished doing this. The idea seems to have been to give whatever was expected out of the Ghilli team.

For the masses, by the masses.

Kuruvi Music Review - Galatta

Padma Iyer [April 19, 2008, 3:18:47 PM]

Kuruvi, directed by Dharani and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, has raised a lot of expectations. The hit team of Ghilli, comprising Vijay, Trisha, Dharani and Vidyasagar, is coming together for the romantic action movie. Recently, the audio release of Kuruvi took place in a grand fashion in Chennai. Now, Vidyasagar's rocking numbers have added to the fans' jubilation.'Happy New Year', the first song in the album, bursts with joy and gusto. Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, Yogi and Dr. Burn, the song has a colourful mood and an infectious energy level. Towards the second part, the tempo picks up and it truly becomes a musical carnival!

The Kuruvi theme track is an interesting blend of different styles of music. One can recognize a bit of folk style here and a hint of western touch there in its tunes. Dr. Burn, Praveen Mani and Ranina render it.

'Mozhamozhannu' begins with Kay Kay and Anuradha Sriram's voices. It is a typical folk song with a traditional folksy touch. Replete with heavy beats and novel lingo, the song is punchy and in Vijay's signature style. Anuradha's voice modulates with an appropriate accent and tempo. Kay Kay's vocal support is a value addition to the song.

Rajalakshmi and Vidyasagar just rejoice while singing 'Palanadhu Palaanadhu'. Based on a pacey tune, its lyrics praise the hero and make every one dance.

'Thaen Thaen Thaen' is in Udit Narayan and Shreya Goshal's honey-sweet voices. A lovely duet, the song is based on a subtle and soothing tune and has very melodious background music.

'Dandaana Darna' is a dapankoothu sung by Sangeet Haldipur. The song's lyrics are a lure and certainly warrant praise. Cheery and motivational, the song celebrates the country's natural wealth and resources.

The Kuruvi album is a collection of peppy dance numbers and caters to listeners' favourite tastes. What more can a Vijay fan ask for?

Kuruvi Music Review - Indiaglitz

Kuruvi - A loud chirp
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, April 19, 2008]

Dharani, Vijay and Vidyasagar share an excellent rapport between them. It was evident in 'Gilli', which had a catchy music and went on to become a blockbuster.

Now the trio comes together again for `Kuruvi'. Obviously expectations are high on the movie. The audio of the movie promises to live up to all the hype and hoopla.

The album has six tracks including theme music. Vidyasagar has managed to come up with songs, which are bundle of energy and foot-tapping. The likes of Yogi, Dr Burn, Anuradha Sreeram, Sangeeth Haldipur and Vidyasagar himself have lent their voice.

Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, `Kuruvi' has songs which are foot-tapping and energetic.

Happy New Year ( Sunidhi Chauhan, Yogi, Dr Burn)

Music composer Vidyasagar makes a heady start. A perfect opening in the album, it sets the right mood for the listeners. Acclaimed rap singers Yogi and Dr Burn render the song in the company of Sunidhi Chauhan.

Penned by Na Muthukumar, it has a pacy music with addition rhythm. The rap interludes in between are very catchy.

Dandana Dara (Sangeeth Haldipur)

A perfect 'kuthu' song. Oozing with energy all through, the song has everything a front-bencher would jump and shake his legs in theatres. With Vijay on screen, such high-pitched song is sure to woo audience.

Sangeeth Haldipur is a perfect foil to render the song. A lyric by Kabilan, which glorifies the hero, is adequate.

Thaen Thaen (Udit Narayan, Shreya Ghosal)

It is a soft romantic number. Udit's open-throated voice in the company of Shreya Ghosal's mesmerizing way of rendering of the duet sticks to our hearts immediately.

This song sticks to a pattern. It flows free and smooth from the beginning. The soft beats and good use of guitar in the interludes are good. Yugabharathy's lyrics are noteworthy.

Paalaanadhu Paalaanadhu (Vidyasagar, Rajalakshmi)

Vidyasagar has tried to marry East and the West. The song begins with typical Chennai percussion instruments. However it shifts gears to take a western beat with Vidyasagar and Rajalakshmi, going all guns to render a song which is sure to find a place in all dance floors. In between the Punjabi Bhangra music is used well by Vidyasagar. Pa Vijay has penned the song.

Mozha Mozhanu (KK , Anuradha Sreeram)

It is customary for every Vijay film to have a peppy song which will be laced with fast beats and racy tune. Mozha Mozhannu is one such number which Anuradha Sreeram and KK rendering the number with amazing energy.

Pa Vijay's youthful lyric gets subdued in the heavy music of Vidyasagar. But the use of additional percussion instruments and racy rhythms are the major highlights of the song.

Gilli's magic triumvirate returns!

The film also sees the entry of politician Karunanidhi's grandson and M K Stalin's son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, as the film's producer.
Politicians debuting in Tamil cinema is not a new thing. In the past M Karunanidhi, MGR, Jayalalitha, Vijayakanth and Sarath Kumar have all entered filmdom in a big way.

Dharani has made two hugely successful films, Dhil and Dhool with his classmate Vikram as the hero. Both studied Bachelor of English at Loyola.
Like the audio launches of his earlier films, Dharani also released Kuruvi's album at the Little Flower Convent, a school for the speech and hearing impaired.

Vikram also turned up for the event as also the young action hero Vishal.
Dharani has a penchant for small titles -- Dhool, Dhil and Gilli. Kuruvi follows the same pattern. The film's tag line is 'Where eagles dare. So go figure'.

Music director Vidyasagar who made the smash hit Appadi Podu from Gilli has also done the music for Kuruvi.

'Kuruvi' equals two 'Gilli': Vijay’s hopes

Cinesouth.com
- 17.04.2008 Vijay

'Kuruvi' audio release took a different and simple turn in that the songs were introduced by the press people and a donation was given to the school for the deaf and dumb.

Minister MK Stalin's son Udhayanidhi produces the film 'Kuruvi.' The film that unites Dharani and Vijay for the second time for which Vidyasagar has composed music.

The audio release function was held yesterday at the Little Flower School for the Deaf and Dumb. "I have always held the audio release functions only here. Because I know how I suffered when I had my leg problem. I thought I should make these children happy." Saying this, Dharani made a donation on behalf of the producer to the school authorities.

The five songs featuring in the film were introduced by the media persons as Dharani's close friend Vikram, Vishal, heroine of the film Trisha, Vivek, Ashish Vidhyarthi and London Karuna attended the function. Vikram then released the audio cassette that was received by Vishal.

Three out of all songs in a Vidyasagar composed film would always be melodies. But in 'Kuruvi', except for one song, all other numbers are of fast track. Vidyasagar, has for the first time sang a song in this film.

As he was in a hurry to leave, Vikram spoke first. He said, "There is no doubt that Vijay-Dharani combination has always been a super hit. The chemistry between Vijay and Trisha is also good. I listened to the songs and I liked all of them. My best wishes for the success of the film." Having said that, Vikram took leave.
Vijay, Vishal, Vikram
Vishal said, "In all the parties I take part, I always dance to the songs of Vijay. For another four years, I will be dancing to the tunes of 'Kuruvi' songs".

The last to speak, Vijay said, "The four of us - director Dharani, I, Trisha and Vidyasagar worked in 'Gilli.' I am hopeful that this film would be a success like that film. When I am acting in a film, my inner conscience will tell me that a film will be a success. For this film too, I feel like that. 'Kuruvi' will be twice a success like that of 'Gilli'.

Producer Udhayanidhi spoke first and Dharani gave a vote of thanks.

Kuruvi’s low profile launch!

By Behindwoods News Bureau.
April 16, 2008

Kuruvi’s audio launch was held today at the Little Flower Convent in Chennai sans the usual fanfare despite the buzz surrounding the movie. The low key affair, held in the school for hearing and speech impaired, witnessed minimal star participation.

As a novel attempt, the audio was released to senior journalists from renowned dailies like Daily Thanthi and The Hindu. Gangadaran from Daily Thanthi and S.R. Ashokkumar from The Hindu released the album to the students of the academy. Representatives from other media houses like Sun TV also participated in the event. Vijay and Sangeetha, Vikram, Vishal, Trisha, producer Udhayanithi and his wife, and director Dharani are the other celebrities spotted at the event.
Kuruvi

Addressing the gathering, director Dharani revealed that he has reason to hold the event in a school for physically challenged. “Once, I met with an accident and was immobile for a few months. That was when I realized how tough it was to lead the life of a physically challenged person,” he reminisced.

Dharani also declared that Kuruvi has every aspect to woo the audience. Kuruvi is scored by Vidyasagar and is slated for a May release.

Glitterati Of Stars At ‘Kuruvi’ Audio Launch

IndiaGlitz
[Wednesday, April 16, 2008]

The glittering stars of Kollywood gathered at the Little Flower Convent in Chennai for the audio launch of ‘Kuruvi’ on Wednesday.

Directed by Dharani and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, grandson of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the movie has musical score by Vidyasagar. Vijay, Trisha, Dharani and Vidyasagar, who formed part of the blockbuster ‘Gilli’ before, exuded confidence that ‘Kuruvi’ too will become a big hit.

Speaking at the audio launch, Udhayanidhi Stalin said, 'I decided to turn a producer after seeing ‘Gilli’. I approached Vijay and he agreed to be part of my maiden production venture'. Heaping laurels on Udhayanidhi, Vijay said, 'He is a commendable producer, who has a penchant for quality entertainers. He knows the nuances of film-making'.

Vikram said, 'Vijay and Dharani share an excellent rapport. ‘Kuruvi’ will be another feather in their cap.' On his part said, Vishal said, 'The songs are catchy and enthusiastic. Vidyasgar's tunes are always catchy'.

Actors Vivek, Ashish Vidyarthi, producer London Karunas, actress Trisha among others were present on the occasion.

Kuruvi - The Audio Review

It is a very well known fact that Vijay's film songs are 50% audio and 50% visuals. Yet another known fact is that songs of Dharani-Vidyasagar combo are strictly for mass, and it has been proved through films like Dhool, Ghilli and Bangaram. That said, the trio of Vijay-Dharani-Vidhyasagar have delivered in "Kuruvi" more than what is expected out of them - An album that satisfies all Vijay fans and a good time pass for neutral fans.
Peppy, loud and full of energy, it is the right mix for Vijay fans if you leave aside senseless comparisions with things of past. Anyone who listens to the album in a low mood is sure to get an high spirit, to say the least. It is definitely a break away from the usual class-melody routine that Vidhyasagar has been through for the past couple of years.

Now over to the songs....

Happy New Year
Singers: Sunidhi Chauhan, Yogi B, Dr.Burn

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The album starts with a loud bang with this number which I call in my terms as "Techno Kuthu". Sunidhi singing Tamil folk is something new and she is brilliant as ever. The Tamil Rap by Yogi B and Dr.Burn is equally enjoyable. The heavy percussions provide the perfect accompaniment for the song.

Rating: 8.5/10

Dandaana Darna
Lyrics: Kabilan

Singers: Sangeeth Haldipur

This is the third time in a row we get to hear Vijay's intro song in a different voice than the usual Shankar Mahadevan/Tippu. Use of new voice renders a fresh feel to the song and Vidhyasagar has rightly taken a note of this aspect. Sangeeth Haldipur, the famous Marathi music composer/singer and part of Channel [V] Pop stars 2, does the honours this time. For a first time non-Tamilian singer, he has managed to do a good job and delivered what is required of him - right feel, energy and heavy throated singing. What Pokkiri Pongal is for Pokkiri, Dandaana Darna is for Kurvi.

Rating: 8.5/10

Thaen Thaen Thaen
Lyrics: Yugabharathi

Singers: Udit Narayanan, Shreya Ghosal

Vidhyasagar's melodies always have a unique feel to it and he is at his usual best here too. The hindustani tune with Arabian style of orchestration gives the song a lilting touch. Shreya Ghosal yet again proves that nothing is sweeter than her voice, while Udit Narayanan too does a good job if you can forgive his awkward diction at a few places. This is one song that has the right elements to attract anyone after first few listenings. A slow poison.

Rating: 9/10

Palaanadhu Palaanadhu
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay

Singers: Vidhyasagar, S. Rajalakshmi

If you loved Thottu Thottu Pesum Sulthana(Edhirum Pudhirum) or Ithunoondu Muthathile(Dhool) of Dharani-Vidhyasagar combo, you will surely love this too. Composed in Bhangra style with lots of techno beats mixed with the Punjabi Dhol, this song will leave you dancing for the exitement it provides is magical. Thankfully, Vidhyasagar has chosen the right song for him to sing and Rajalakshmi of "Kokku Para Para" fame does a good job too.

Rating: 8/10

Theme Music
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Singers: Praveen Mani, Dr Burn, Ranina and Suvi

With varying paces, possibly to be used at various situations in the film, this a rocking music bit filled with lots of mass lyrics, that will leave Vijay fans mesmerised. You may get a feel of Kabadi Kabadi of Ghilli westernised, but this song has more than that to offer. The heavy guitar fused with traditional folk percussions does what it is intended to do - rushing up the adrenaline.

Rating: 8/10

Mozha Mozhanu
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
Singers: K.K, Anuradha Sriram

The least best is saved for the last. This is a song whose success is heavily dependent on the picturisation because the music has nothing great to talk about. Vidhyasagar-KK-Anuradha combo of the unforgettable Appadi Podu has done a mediocre job here. The disappointment leaves you searching for Srikanth Deva or Dheena as Guest composers in the credits. Completely folk in all aspects, this is clearly targetted for front benchers. Nothing without a reason, visuals will speak on that.

Rating: 6.5/10

Pluses: Fresh voices, simple and neat presentation
Minuses: Lyrics are mediocre, songs are targeted only at the youth

Overall Rating: 8/10

Verdict: Rocking!!!

Vijay is `Singam' now

IndiaGlitz
[Monday, April 14, 2008]

Vijay is eagerly awaiting the release of his next `Kuruvi'. The movie produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and directed by Dharani, will be a summer special.

Vijay and Trisha have been to New Zealand to shake their legs for a song composed by Vidyasagar.

After completing `Kuruvi', Vijay will once again join hands with Prabhudeva. The duo teamed up to render a hit in `Pokirri'.

Their forthcoming venture tentatively titled `Singam' will go to floors once Prabhudeva completes the Hindi version of `Pokirri'.

Prabhudeva says, 'Quite like `Pokkiri', `Singam' will be a racy entertainer. When I narrated the storyline to Vijay, he immediately expressed his consent to act in it".

Director Dharani’s Kuruvi with Vijay and Trisha is nearing completion and all eyes are on Ilaya Thalapathi as to what his next project would be. Well, the announcement was made some days ago that he has signed on the dotted lines to star in a venture that would be directed by Prabhu Deva. Nayanthara has bagged the female lead role in this film.
Vijay
With the story and script ready, the title of the movie has been registered as Singam. As some believe that the title was registered tentatively, an official word on the confirmation of the name Singam is expected anytime soon.

With the Vijay - Prabhu Deva duo’s earlier venture Pokkiri having been declared a hit, Singam is also expected to raise the bar among fans.

Thala Vs Thalapathy & Big Vs Younger brother

Pokkiri is amongst Vijay’s biggest hits and who was the man wielding the mega-phone? The man who is fondly called India’s Michael Jackson – Prabhudeva! His hits in Telugu and the stupendous success of the Tamil Pokkiri have proven he can more than twist his body!

After the wondrous success of Ajith’s Billa, Vijay fans have invested all their hope in his upcoming Kuruvi which is being made by the same crew that gave Vijay’s other super hit Gilli! But news about Singam, Prabhu Deva’s next flick with Vijay has hit the grapevine and is spreading like wild fire. Looks like Vijay has a back-up, just in case!

But there’s one more angle to this. If Prabhu Deva is directing Vijay’s next film and Raju Sundaram is directing Ajith’s next, the competition has changed dimension altogether! It is Thalai Vs Ilayathalpathy and also Big Brother Vs Younger Brother!

But we must remember that most often all the competition is only amidst the fans. Most stars are way above it all!

However, it is now learnt that a formal audio launch has been decided to be held by the producers on the 16th of April at the Little Flower Convent premises, Mount Road, Chennai.

Oh! No… Not Vijay… says Dhanush

By Behindwoods News Bureau.
April 11, 2008

Dhanush was recently interviewed by a popular Tamil weekly in which the actor answered many questions candidly. Some of the questions were like: Would you act as a villain in a Rajinikanth film? Which of the three actresses do you like the most – Trisha, Asin or Nayanthara?

Though Dhanush did not expect the question – Would you dance with Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay for a song… his apprehension was evident when he replied that he would prefer to appear in guest role rather than dance with Vijay as the latter has mastered the art so well and it would be
impossible to match his performance.
